The Annual Quiz was held this year in Christ Church Hall, Radyr, hosted by Cardiff St John’s.

Ten teams took part representing 13 towers. Well done Llanedeyrn for being the only tower to wave the flag for Monmouth Branch. Some 60 people took part and judging by comments made it was much enjoyed by all.

The winners were Roger’s Rebels (Llanishen) with a convincing total of 74 points followed fairly closely, with 70 points, by Our Friends from the North (Aberdare), some 14 points ahead of the next team.

Two rounds were very different from previous occasions, one on music with a bell connection, and another on our homeland, Wales. “Flags of the World” proved a puzzle to some but a few teams managed 9 out of 10 points on the more traditional questions.

The raffle prizes included two bottles of whisky, one a very nice single malt, and also two bottles of wine, all generously donated. This may explain why the raffle raised £62 and Malcolm Wigmore went home looking very pleased. The operating profit on the quiz was £78 enabling a total of £140 to be passed to the Association Bell Restoration Fund.

Many thanks to all who came for your support and also to the St John’s ringers for their hard work during the evening and, in some cases, well before it.

The prize for winning? The much-coveted privilege of hosting next year's Quiz smiley
