Viewing the Website when not logged in
This website automatically logs the IP address of visits made to it for administrative and/or security purposes. The logged IP addresses are not associated with an individual visitor and are not used to track visitors; there is no software code on this website which allows for this.
Website Accounts & Registration
It is not necessary to register an account to view the publicly available information on this website. However, it is necessary to have an account to:
- use the website's interactive features, e.g. to post Comments on Articles or to submit new Articles or Links.
- access information which is not publicly available (e.g. Tower Contact List, copies of Annual Reports, Management Committee documents, etc), in which case appropriate permissions need to be set manually by the website's administrators. Contact Details and Membership Records
This website's database is used for keeping a centralised list of Association members and their home tower.
This list is also used for the recording of members' contact details together with their preferences in respect of how they wish to be contacted, receive Annual Reports and the use of photographs of them in publications. This information is supplied by the members themselves and they are specifically required to give their consent for its electronic storage. None of this information can be viewed on publicly accessible parts of the website. It cannot be indexed or otherwise read by internet search engines and cannot be searched for on the website.
This information is used primarily for membership administration and is not shared with third parties. There is no link between these records and a member's website account.
Mailing Lists
It is not necessary to have a website account (see above) to subscribe to any of our Mailing Lists. Website accounts and Mailing List subscriptions are, however, automatically associated with each other where both exist and use the same email address.
In order to comply with legal duties imposed by GDPR, this website automatically records:
- the name and email address of the subscriber
- the date and time that subscription requests and amendments to them are made
- the IP address from which subscription and amendment requests are made.
- current Mailing Lists subscriptions
- lists to which a subscriber has unsubscribed.
Mailing List subscribers have the ability to amend their subscription choices at any time. Only in exceptional circumstances, e.g. a subscriber having passed away, will the administrators of this website amend or edit Mailing List subscriptions other than in consultation with the subscriber.

Information Security
The Association takes great care to protect personal information kept on this website. Information is protected both online at site and server level and also offline.
This website does not publish or disclose the personal information of its account holders or Mailing List subscribers. Officers and volunteers of the Association have domain email addresses of the type @llanmon.org.uk and, where published, these are software-cloaked to prevent electronic harvesting by automated scripts or web-bots. Normal practise is not to publish personal email addresses.
Interactions with the website are encrypted and transmitted in a secure way. Visitors can verify this by looking for a padlock icon in the web-browser's address bar and looking for "https://" at the beginning of the website's address.
Backups of this website are made several times per week. The latest two backups only are retained securely on the server in a location away from the website itself. Backups are a snapshot in time and include the website's software/code, files and its database at the time each backup is taken. Periodically, typically weekly, the latest backup is used to create an offline working copy of the website for development and testing purposes. This working copy of the website is held securely offline by the Webmaster and is itself backed up.
