The 2014 Inter-Branch Striking Competitions took place on Thursday 17th July.

The competitions were held at Sy Mary, Nash, and we were fortunate to have some very lovely evening weather making it very pleasant to sit outside the church (or pub!), listening to the ringing. The Wadworths 6X from the Waterloo Inn was particularly pleasant wink

The judges were Ruth and Geoff Stickland and they were treated to some excellent ringing from all the bands.

The test piece for the Method Ringing section was 240 Grandsire Doubles, called SSSBSSSP three times.  They did explain the judging process and their calculations, the gist of which was that they understood it and we didn't!

As seems traditional, the Call Change Competition went first and the Judges scored the two bands very closely, as follows:

Call Change Competition:
1st. Cadoxton - 26 faults
2nd. St Mellons - 29 faults

Well done to both teams for ringing so well and difficult for the judges smiley

Method Ringing Competition:
1st. Llandaff Cathedral - 75%
2nd. Newport Cathedral - 66%
3rd. Rumney - 60%
4th. Penarth - 57%

Llandaff Cathedral go forward to represent the Association for the J Arthur Hoare Memorial Trophy (All Wales Striking Competion) on 27th September 2014 at St Edward, Knighton.

With thanks to Matthew Turner for noting the results cool
